it focuses mainly on red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes), and platelets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 Specific organs and systems have their own specific tests: for example, the liver (AST, ALT, gamma-GT), the kidneys (urea, creatinine, uric acid), etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 Basically: Red blood cells carry oxygen to all the cells and bring carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be \u201crecycled\u201d (exchanged for more O2 from the air we breathe), while white blood cells are responsible for immunity (the body\u2019s defense system \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/icaro.med.br\/imunidade\/\">https:\/\/icaro.med.br\/imunidade\/<\/a>) and platelets are involved in blood clotting (such as the initial closure of wounds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 It also provides information on hemoglobin and hematocrit, which help assess the red blood cells and may indicate anemia, bleeding, dehydration, or other abnormalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 When a person drinks too little water on a daily basis\u2014and especially in the hours leading up to the blood draw\u2014the test results may be affected by hemoconcentration, which can alter the values and make it difficult for a doctor to interpret the test results accurately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 The VCM, HCM, CHCM, and RDW indices help us understand the size and shape of red blood cells and are very useful for classifying types of anemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 When it comes to white blood cells, a complete blood count helps identify possible causes such as infection, inflammation, medication use, or bone marrow disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 As for platelets, a complete blood count helps identify an increased risk of bleeding when platelet levels are low, as well as elevated levels that may require further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 Important: A complete blood count alone does not \u201cconfirm a diagnosis\u201d\u2014every test must be interpreted in conjunction with the patient\u2019s full clinical picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2705 A thorough checkup or patient evaluation should never be based solely on a complete blood count, but it certainly provides important baseline data to help initiate laboratory evaluation with additional tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave your question or comment and let us know if you're interested in Part 2!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have a great week, and may God be with all of us (and our families)<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ver essa foto no Instagram Um post compartilhado por Dr. \u00cdcaro Alves (@dricaroalves) \u2705 \u00c9 geralmente o exame + importante e um dos primeiros solicitados em boa consulta, seja em consult\u00f3rio, pronto-socorro ou UTI. \u2705 Apesar do nome, n\u00e3o diz TUDO sobre o sangue;
