How do I evaluate my patients“ Complete Lipidogram (”blood fats")?
Simple - basic rules for the expected IDEAL (my opinion):
Patient with good lifestyle habits (otherwise any amount of cholesterol they have will oxidize more easily and therefore cause problems - and they will have dangerous high levels of triglycerides).
Other tests must also be balanced (we should never analyze tests in isolation and without making their results compatible with the patient's clinical picture) or they will affect and be affected by “blood fat levels”.
The balance of hormones and neurotransmitters is fundamental, as it directly affects the levels and degree of fat oxidation. Especially T4, T3, testosterone, cortisol, ...
HDL, should be above 60 - Total cholesterol, should be between double and quadruple the HDL value (I see it as ideal to be at triple).
✅ LDL, between 100 and up to 20 points above double the HDL value) - for example, for a patient with HDL of 60, I usually find LDL of 100 to 140 to be optimal (not least because without good LDL levels nobody makes hormones or cells or nerves or does repairs properly!).
Your triglyceride level should always be no more than 2.5 times the value of your HDL (which, remember, should be above 60) and should never be below the HDL value (or you may have dietary deficiencies that need to be corrected, for example in complex carbohydrates or fats in general).

Understood? I'm sharing this in the hope that it will help you in some way.
This is my opinion, the reasoning I use for my patients, after much study and updating... It has worked for the last 20,000 patients I have seen!
CHOLESTEROL is NOT anyone's enemy... Only if it is mistreated.
