FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION:
Functional Clinical Nutrition aims to ensure that all of our body's organs and systems function properly. We are made up of trillions of cells that make up the tissues and organs, which in turn make up the systems of the human organism. Each cell in our body is a living unit which, in order to function properly, depends on certain nutrients. The doses of these nutrients vary from person to person, according to their genetic characteristics. Functional Nutrition uses the science of nutrients to maintain or restore the balance and well-being of each individual's body, taking into account that a food that is considered healthy for one person may be harmful for another. The treatment is not based solely on calories, but on cellular nutrition. A food that may be beneficial for one patient may be harmful for another, since each person has a different organism and, consequently, different metabolic reactions.
Principles of Functional Nutrition:
✅ Biochemical individuality: we are unique, so what is good for one person may not be good for another, i.e. each organism reacts differently to food and different situations.
✅ Patient-centered treatment: focus on the symptoms and their origins, rather than the disease.
✅ Nutritional balance of cells: cell nutrition.
✅ Promote the proper bioavailability of nutrients: ingestion, digestion, absorption, transport, utilization and excretion.
✅ Health: physical, mental and emotional balance.
During the consultation, the patient answers a questionnaire in which their signs and symptoms are assessed, correlating them with vitamin and mineral deficiencies (or excesses), or if there is toxic metal poisoning. Based on this data collection, various tests are also carried out which allow for an in-depth analysis of each case. On the basis of these results, the body's needs are identified, addressing the causes and not just the symptoms. Only after a complete and thorough study can an exclusive diet plan be put together.
