How much WATER should I drink a day?

How much water to drink a day? by Dr. Icaro Alves Alcântara

I'm regularly asked this question: “Dr. Icarus, how much water should I drink a day”?

1 - Never wait until you're thirsty to drink water, otherwise you'll be dehydrating yourself too often (and thus damaging your body, inflaming it) to meet your body's demands! Drink every hour, even if you're not thirsty, and your body will gradually make use of the water you've drunk, generating less “leftovers” so you can urinate less often;

2 - If you don't consume at least 6 portions of fruit, vegetables and legumes a day, 2 liters of water a day won't be enough - if you're not getting enough water from your diet, this “extra” has to come from your daily intake too!

3 - Soft drinks, milk and unnatural juices (cartons, nectars, soft drinks and so on) are not good sources of hydration! The chemical substances in them (including sugars) draw water to themselves and so there is little water left over to effectively hydrate the body through them.

4 - Don't drink large portions of water in one go: the excess will circulate through the body, diluting water-soluble vitamins (such as B and C) and minerals and will come out of you in the urine, after passing through the kidneys, leaving your body deficient in them.

5 - Choose alkaline water. Everything that harms your body acidifies it and believe me: we already have too many acidic organisms out there (the majority) and the more acidic your blood (body in general), the worse all your cells work (tumors are an exception: they love acidic environments, full of sugar and with little oxygen...): understand here: https://aguaalcalinachanson.com.br/agua-alcalina-ionizada-faq/

In short, as you'll find in my Life Habits brochure (read it, they're all important: https://icaro.med.br/15habitos/. “Drink water every 1 hour Or 2 glasses (about 200 ml) every 2 hours (don't wait for thirst - never go longer than this without drinking water) Most of the body is made up of water, which means that without it, everything is impaired and works worse. Water should be drunk several times a day, a total of 3 liters/day (for an adult). Lack of water slows down metabolism and is involved in practically all diseases and symptoms, from obesity and headaches to high blood pressure, inflammation and circulatory diseases in general. And remember that “water is water”: no other liquid hydrates as well as pure water itself”.
