Today's post, as a gift to you, is based on a lecture by the great @HenryOkigami, a great teacher and scholar, from whom I always learn a lot (I soon want to be a student on his main Biochemistry course and others... I recommend it!), on the occasion of the Brazilian Meeting of Sports Nutrition, which will take place this week (hurry up and sign up) - Strategies to increase testosterone:
(Here is the link to the lesson. Health professionals, watch: www.facebook.com/NutricaoEsportivaBrasil/videos/1401855946600022/)
1️⃣ Resistance exercise - increases the expression of steroidogenic enzymes
2️⃣ Mucuna Pruriens - increases levels of dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin and testosterone
3️⃣ LongJack (Eurycoma Longifolia) - boosts testosterone
4️⃣ Tribulus Terrestris - increases DHEA, which can turn into testosterone (in greater quantities in women)
5️⃣ D-Aspartic Acid - increases the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in the hypothalamus, and thus of growth hormone (GH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland (hypophysis) and therefore testosterone from the testicles/ovaries.
📌 Peruvian Maca: It seems to increase estradiol and not testosterone...
Why increase testosterone? Understand how and why good testosterone levels are essential for the health of men and women - https://icaro.med.br/?s=Testosterona
IMPORTANTSuccessful use of any supplement depends on this: icaro.med.br/?s=supplementation (or you could throw money away...)
Obviously, to use supplements, first seek assessment and monitoring by a qualified health professional, okay? For your own safety: to know the doses, forms and times of use, whether they are suitable for you, interactions between substances, adaptation of use, etc.
TESTOSTERONE, other hormones and PERFORMANCE
Nowadays, it's common for people who want to improve their overall performance (especially “gym-goers”) to be on the lookout for something that boosts testosterone, both men and women... On the subject, understand:
1 - General performance depends on a good metabolism and, for this, the basis is good lifestyle habits - without them, you can clog yourself up with hormones, drugs or supplements, but you'll end up sick and frustrated.
2 - It's not just testosterone that improves metabolism and, therefore, overall performance; in other words, if your performance isn't good, there are several things you should look into with competent health professionals, such as various hormones, neurotransmitters, among others.
3 - It's one thing to use ready-made hormones and quite another to use substances that improve your own hormone production. In the latter case, they won't do much good if your body doesn't have the material to manufacture these hormones or the enzymes involved in the process. For example, there's little point in stuffing yourself full of tribulus, maca, eurycoma or pygeum if your body doesn't regularly receive water, sleep and quality food - hormones and enzymes aren't made from wind!
4 - Excess testosterone can turn into estrogens and, as a result, the desired effects “go down the drain” or can cause serious side effects.
5 - Hormones and low-quality supplements can not only malfunction, but also intoxicate and compromise your liver and other detoxifying systems!
Have I forgotten something important or is that clear?
