In response to requests, my 10 healthy resolutions for the New Year in health, posted on my X (formerly Twitter) @dricaroalves. Repeated here.
1 - Change and improve your lifestyle habits, making them healthier. There's little point in excellent medication/treatment if you don't do your bit.
To do this, I recommend that you watch these brief presentations that show what these fundamental lifestyle habits are http://icaro.med.br/a-base-de-tudo/ e https://icaro.med.br/viver/
2 - Plan. In life, the only people who succeed without planning, in anything, are those who are or have been very lucky (or have some inheritance).
Even those who have had a lot of luck (or inheritance), if they don't plan well how to spend their time/energies, end up losing what they have/won. Get organized!
3 - Have a little patience and don't expect results “overnight”: most natural and healthy results take time.
After all, what you've taken years to build (good or bad), your body and mind will probably also take a long time to adapt or repair.
4 - Have willpower and perseverance: changing health habits is not an easy thing to achieve overnight.
But if you don't even try, don't insist and don't believe in your potential, that you will succeed, the “battle” for your improvement has already begun.
5 - Cut down on sugar, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, soft drinks, saturated fats, excessive sunshine and anything else that can intoxicate your body.
6 - Don't entrust your health exclusively to medicines/treatments in general: once they're over, if the cause hasn't been treated, the illnesses will return.
7 - Look for doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, etc. (in short, health professionals) to accompany you who understand what they are doing and listen to you.
Don't forget that there are many “good-hearted picks” and many “experts” who don't even take the time to listen to the patient or even look at them.
In all areas of health, there are many who have a lot of knowledge but little real humanity: how can you treat without legitimately caring for the human being?
8 - Eat more functional foods, i.e. those that not only nourish but also help prevent and even cure diseases.
Excellent functional foods: oats, linseed, apples, turmeric, rosemary, oregano, fish, extra virgin olive oil, quinoa, soya, chestnuts, dark leafy greens.
9 - Never take supplements or medicines without medical advice: many of them and their combinations, when inappropriate, can do a lot of harm.
10 - Money spent on your health, for prevention (mainly), examinations and treatments (when necessary) is not being “thrown away”.
Confucius used to say that there are men who spend their health to get money and then, when they get sick, spend a lot more to try to recover their health.
Think about it... You save for trips, cars, accessories, entertainment, etc. And how do you spend on getting and staying healthy?
Anyway, Happy Holidays and may 2011 be successful in all areas for you and your family; especially in health.
Cheers,
