Anxiety is the state of alertness caused in the mind and body by the nonspecific psychic sensation of apprehension, fear, tension and/or insecurity in response to the anticipation of an unpleasant situation or imminent danger; its origin is internal, multifactorial and it is only pathological when it is exaggerated in the face of the facts or thoughts that generated it, something that is increasingly common in the fast-paced and over-busy days we all live in today.
Anxiety is a mental process, but when it is excessive and/or persistent, it affects the body above all by impairing the functioning of the nervous system, compromising hormonal balance and leading to excessive expenditure of nutrients, the lack of which can affect the various organs that need them.
