The lack of alignment between your beliefs, thoughts and actions. Whenever the brain has to deal with dissonance between these three elements, it somehow has to “sustain a lie”, and this consumes extra energy. Energy that will be taken away from some other useful area of your body and even your life.
I'll explain: Let's say you believe in X teaching or way of behaving. You've been thinking about how you should act according to X and you want to do so, but in practice you act differently from X. This generates stress, speeds up the mind (and even the body, in many ways) and consumes more resources than normal.
Another example is when you believe in Y and act, externally, in line with Y, but internally you are often doubting whether Y is really the right thing to do. This internal conflict, when sustained, undermines your strength!
Coherence is fundamental to life. Got it?
Meditate and reflect on your beliefs, values, mental patterns and attitudes. Always seek coherence between them, because even your health can be affected!
After all, everything that affects the mind sooner or later affects the body... and your life!
