Do you really want to recover, have, maintain and improve your health?
Do you really want to be healthy?
Popular wisdom agrees that:
- “Health is important”;
- “We need to take care of our health”;
- “Without health, you can't do anything in life.”;
- “Prevention is better than cure”.
Perhaps you also think and say all these things. But the truth is that most people don't act on these statements, or at least don't do what is necessary to make them a reality. In everyday life, what happens most often is that most people only really value their health when it is compromised, when something can't be achieved, maintained or accomplished due to a lack of health: feeling unwell, a trip postponed, an appointment missed, spending on medication/treatment, time lost recovering from or caring for the illness.
Until when?
Reflect:
1️⃣ When you decide to take care of your health, it can be too late. Ask a patient who has discovered cancer or someone who has survived a heart attack or stroke if, if they could, they would go back in time to take better care of their health and avoid illness. This should inspire and convince you that it's not that difficult to find the time to drink more water, eat better, sleep earlier, breathe deeply, exercise regularly, seek appropriate professional support, etc. (Find out more here: https://icaro.med.br/15habitos/)
2️⃣ It's always worth taking better care of yourself. Often it may no longer be possible to cure symptoms, diseases or sequelae, but there is always the possibility of feeling better, functioning better, relieving symptoms, lessening severity and optimizing quality of life. The sooner you seek quality knowledge and help to apply it, the greater your chances of success (Find out more here: https://icaro.med.br/saude/).
3️⃣ Prevention is simpler and more effective. Ask yourself what you really do to improve your health and avoid symptoms and illnesses (The basis for this is here: https://icaro.med.br/questionario/). The more difficulty you have answering this simple question, the greater your chances of deteriorating your health rapidly.
4️⃣ Laziness and a comfort zone get in the way, make you sick and kill you. Everyone should take care of their health before any symptoms appear. If what you're currently doing is making you ill, you should change it, or everything will only get worse.
5️⃣ If you “put off” taking care of yourself when you already have a physical disability or due to mental conditions such as anxiety or depression, it can become more difficult to start the process. It's best to prevent or prepare for greater efforts.
If you really understand everything I've said above, as a doctor with almost 20 years' experience in medicine, I suggest you access this content, free of charge: https://icaro.med.br/saude/. I'm sure its application will help you live a better, healthier life. “The best professionals, medicines and treatments in the world are of little use to patients who don't do their bit for their own health.”.
*This post is not a “scolding”, but an invitation to reflect. Change what you need to, if you think it's important.
** Despite the great importance of this subject, I've made the text very short, because people have been avoiding long texts and videos. Our society is increasingly consuming brief content, less than a minute long, even if this is insufficient to detail important aspects of any topic...
