What educates (or diseducates) the most is example:
I wonder why many brilliant doctors, as time goes by, neglect their bodies to such an extent that they develop overweight and even obesity (apart from various other possible symptoms and illnesses...).
Have you ever heard of “Healthy Mind, Healthy Body”? That's right... The reverse is also necessarily true: a healthy body is fundamental to obtaining and maintaining a healthy mind.
In particular, therefore, I find it hard to believe what someone says about health when they don't even show health in their appearance as much as in their speech and daily life!
Think about it: an American study from a few years ago showed that almost 60% of (American) doctors didn't know how to advise their patients on the importance of a really healthier lifestyle (or didn't feel “comfortable” doing so, teaching and monitoring the adoption and maintenance of healthier lifestyle habits). In other words, it seems that many “brilliant” professionals out there simply think that the “secret” is to survive until old age and, from then on, treat (mainly via medication) whatever comes along... Absurd to think so, isn't it? If you find that inconceivable, how acceptable is it to have professionals like that looking after your health?
In short, let's seek coherence, especially in what can affect one of our most precious assets: our health (well-being of body, mind and spirit) - after all, do you want to live or merely survive?
